Ceramic Kilns from Amaco
Pottery can be a lucrative enterprise. A high-school friend of mine (actually she was closer to my sister) became a commercial potter, with her own equipment, including a ceramic pottery kiln, and made a living at it. Later she married a cop and continued with her pottery. Her husband always knows where to find her: at home with the ceramic kiln.
I don’t know if they use glass kilns here in Arizona, but the Native Americans in this region are famous for their pottery, pieces that date back before the settlers first arrived. And then as the trains began bringing sightseers out west during the 1800s, the tribes in Arizona, Utah and New Mexico found that there was a real market for their pottery, and some of their designs evolved from there while others mimicked their ancestors’ work.
Today you will find all your kiln and pottery supplies online at Amoco — www.amaco.com. Or you can phone their 1-800 number.
