A couple of weekends ago, I discovered an old private neighborhood consisting of a ring road lined with mansions surrounding a small pond. I guess the mansions were most likely built during the 1930s, and they had been kept up. It seemed that the owners were away at their summer residences somewhere on the water or in Europe, yet it was obvious that they kept their hedges and lawns trimmed and their gardens tended by landscapers and gardeners. I was quite impressed with the well-planned wildness of it all. Obviously, professional landscapers had given the various properties a wilderness look, a design that matched the central pond.
