Is the Webhosting business dominated by big or small companies?

Is the web hosting business run by big or small companies? According to the internet, there are presently over 550,000 web hosting companies. As a consequence, I’m guessing that the large bulk of them are small & mid web hosting firms. Please correct me if I’m incorrect.
