Speed up Your Computer
I spoke to the owner of a used computer parts store, and he said that over time, your operating system and your installed programs accumulate errors (such as file pointers) that slow down your computer’s performance.
The cure: You should wipe your hard disk clean once per year, and then reinstall your operating system and your miscellaneous software packages. Just find out your hard disk’s make, model, and manufacturer, and then go to the manufacturer’s web site. The manufacturer will usually have a free program specifically designed for your hard-disk model, and ready for download, a free program that wipes your hard disk clean.
But make sure that before you wipe your disk, you make backup copies of your documents, files, and downloads, and that you save these copies to floppy disks, CDs, or some other type of removable media!
