Would You Wait for an Auction or Pick Another Domain?

For small sites, I think most people will not wait long for a domain.

If the price is clear and the name is good enough, they buy it. If the domain needs bidding, offers, or several days of waiting, many people just choose another name.

Auctions can be useful for better domains, but for budget projects the time cost can be bigger than the possible savings.

Would you wait for an auction, or just pick a fixed-price domain and start the site?
