Why does moving a .co.uk still work differently from moving a .com?

With many domains, you unlock the name, get a transfer code and move it. .UK still uses the registrar TAG system today, so the process can look unfamiliar the first time.

Nominet is planning to replace that with Transfer Authorisation Codes in February 2027.
